In most cases, the problem comes from the PSD template, the selected design file, or the export folder used for the run.

Step 1: Reopen Bulk Mockup Photoshop Plugin and reselect your folders

1. Open Adobe Photoshop.

2. Open Plugins > Bulk Mockup.

3. Wait for the panel to finish loading.

4. Select your PSD Templates Folder again.

5. Select your design folder again.

6. Select your export folder again.

Reselecting each folder helps confirm the plugin is using the correct locations for the current batch.

Step 2: Check the PSD template file

1. Open one PSD template from the selected template folder.

2. Make sure the file opens normally in Photoshop.

3. Confirm the template contains a working Smart Object layer for your design.

4. Remove any unrelated files, damaged files, or non-PSD files from the template folder.

5. If you are testing several templates, reduce the folder to one PSD file only.

Step 3: Check the design file

1. Open one design file from the selected design folder.

2. Make sure it is not blank or corrupted.

3. Move the file to a local folder if it is stored in cloud-synced storage.

4. Rename the file using only letters, numbers, dashes, or underscores if the name contains unusual symbols.

5. Test with one simple local design file only.

Step 4: Use a new empty export folder

1. Create a new empty folder on your local computer.

4. Run the batch again.

This rules out problems caused by an inaccessible or unstable export location.

Step 5: Run a minimal test batch

1. Keep only one PSD template in the template folder.

2. Keep only one design file in the design folder.

3. Use the empty local export folder you created.

4. Run Bulk Mockup Photoshop Plugin again.

If the batch works with this setup, add your remaining templates or design files back in small groups until the error returns. The last file you added usually points to the source of the issue.

Step 6: Confirm Photoshop version and Smart Object behavior

1. Confirm you are using Adobe Photoshop CC 2022 or later with the current plugin version.

2. If you use Photoshop CC 2017 to CC 2021, switch to the older Bulk Mockup version.

3. Open the Smart Object in the PSD manually and save it once to confirm the template behaves normally in Photoshop.
